Research and Planning: An artist's appearance

In order to make my magazine look like a professional indie magazine, I need to pay attention to the artists featured in these magazines, and how they look.
The following images are of The Fray and The Courteeners, two well known indie bands. I am going to analyse their poses, outfits and any props.

In the image above, The Courteeners are all wearing dark clothing with most wearing black, and the only exception being a grey shirt. The formation of the group in the image is fairly tight, with Liam Fray, the band's lead singer, standing slightly away from the other three. None of their bodies are facing the camera directly. The image has high key lighting, portraying a happy atmosphere, but still has shadow.
The Fray, another indie band, are also photographed here wearing dark clothing. They are slightly more spaced out than the Courteeners were, but are all linked together in some way, with no complete space between them. The background colour fits the colour scheme, also, although the lighting is a little darker, it is high key overall, again, with shadow.
