Research and Planning: Interview Material 2

Below is the new interview for my double page spread:

“Hey guys! It’s good to see you. How’ve you been?”

Daniel: Honestly? We’re the best we have been in a while. A lot has changed since the last single.

“That’s good to hear. What’ve you been up to
recently?”

Danny: We’ve been so busy with everything. We’ve just come back from what I’d call a well deserved break in LA, where we spent a lot of time writing and laying down tracks for the new album. It’s just been finished actually, and I can’t wait for the release.

Niall: The album’s taken up a lot of our time, but it’s been great, because it’s all us. There’s a combination of Arterix’ love, blood, sweat and tears been put into it, but it’s been worth it because the album defines Arterix, and what we’re all about completely.

“Have you found it difficult being without a record label?”

Danny: No, not at all. It’s been an amazing experience for us, actually. We’ve learned a hell of a lot about what the processes behind the scenes when making an album, and we’ve been able to do them ourselves this time round, our way, which is very new to us.

“Fantastic. And you’ve got a tour coming up soon, haven’t you?”

Niall: Yep. Our first ever arena tour. Arterix are getting big this year! There’s been no limits to what we can do, and we’ve really made the most of it.

Daniel: The nicest thing about it though is that whilst we’re getting bigger and bigger with everything we do, we’re still able to keep in touch with fans personally. We run our own fan base, and always go out to local bars and clubs after gigs if we can, so fans can come along if they want to.

“It’s all about Arterix right now, isn’t it! What do you get up to when you’re not with the band?”

Daniel: We’ve all got girlfriends,so we spend a lot of time with them.

Niall: Yeah. At the same time though, the three of us are really good friends, and so are our girlfriends, so we spend a lot of time together at each other’s houses or out and about. A few of our songs are based on the times we’ve had together.

“You worked with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin on the new album, didn’t you? How was that?”

Daniel: Yeah, working with Chris has been great. He’s always been an inspiration to us, so to have the opportunity to work with him has been really good. It’s been quite an eye opening experience as well, to look at how far we’ve come since we were all practicing in Niall’s garage two years ago.

“Who else do you see as inspirations, both personally and to the band?”

Danny: Jimi Hendrix is definitely one of mine. He’s considered one of the best electric guitar players of all time, and I can definitely see why. My Dad loves him, and as a kid I spent a lot of time listening to his stuff.

Research and Planning: Double page spread peer comments

Above is my first draft for my double page spread. I showed it to my peers, and the feedback I received is as follows:

- Too much white
- Maybe add a blurb to photos
- Professional lay out
- More colour needed
- Main photo is attention grabber
- Put questions in a different colour
- Add a subheading to top of page - what type of article is it?
- Add a substory under the heading
- Story and pictures must be linked
- Layout should be symetrical
- 3 columns per page
- Check columns are all the same size

Because of all the improvements that have been suggested, I am going to re-do my double page spread, starting from scratch.
